Joan Marie Capra, 86, Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at her home. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS 66206, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Odyssey Hospice, 8735 Rosehill Rd., Ste 200, Lenexa, KS 66215.

Joan was born September 21, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to William and Helen (Rollheiser) McGraw. She worked for Hedges Evergreen Nursery. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Joan is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carl J. Capra Sr.; her children, Carl Capra Jr. (Debbie), Lucia Ornelas (Jose), Jerry Capra (Christine), Frank Capra (Jamie), Liz Mease (J.R.); grandchildren, James Morton, Michelle Homan (Elliott), Maria Ornelas, Shelby Kuhns; sister, Gerry Donelian; brother, Don McGraw (Genny); sister-in-law, Sarah Capra; and many nieces and nephews.

The family offers a special thank you to the staff of Odyssey Hospice – especially Kirsten, Cori, Michelle, Cathy, and Lacy – for the care shown to Joan.
